寒冷的气候

在非常寒冷的气候里，极端的冷空气或降雪会损伤种球的芽。短暂的霜冻或偶尔夜间的霜冻通常不会对种球造成伤害。 如果种球在十二月/一月开始发芽，但是霜冻还是可能降临，应该它们覆盖一层土、泥炭或树叶。一旦严寒已经来临，这种方法是不提倡的，因为这样只会使损伤加剧。 如果气候过早转暖，种球的开花时间也会比预计的时间要提前。而且花可能会开得更多。
